Black Bean Brownies

IMG_2090.JPG

This recipe is one of my FAVORITE dessert recipes. And yes yes, I know you’re thinking “ew, black beans in my brownies?” - It sounds strange, but truth is, you won’t even taste ‘em!

Make these for yourself or for your loved ones - don’t tell them about the secret ingredient until after they try it. They won’t believe it!

Also, pro tip: don’t eat too many at once cuz we all know what happens when we eat too many black beans hehe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups black beans (cooked)

  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder

  • ½ cup oats

  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

  • ½ cup pure maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips (optional)

  • Peanuts, walnuts or almonds (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC (350ºF).

  2. Grease a small pan with coconut oil.

  3. Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips and nuts in a food processor and blend until fully mixed.

  4. Stir in the chips and nuts, and pour mixture into pan.

  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool before serving. These brownies are best after spending a few hours in the fridge.
